Sunderland opened up a lead of four points at the top of the National Division after they defeated Watford 4-2.
However the Wearsiders twice had to come from behind in order to pick up the victory which has seen them take a firm grip on the title race. Lillie Bilson gave Watford an eighth minute lead which was cancelled out by Demi Stokes, but Charlotte Young ensured that the Hornets went into the interval 2-1 ahead. Sophie Williams levelled matters once again, nine minutes after the restart, before Jordan Nobbs netted twice to wrap up the win for her side.
Reading FC Women kept up their good recent form with a 2-0 win at Blackburn Rovers, a result which takes them into second place - the highest position in their history. The first half ended goalless but Linda Hirons put Reading in front early in the second half and Fran Kirby sealed the points seven minutes from time.
Honours were even at Millwall Lionesses where the home side hit back to earn a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. The visitors took a seventh minute lead through Lyndsey Cunningham with Kate Longhurst levelling the scores midway through the first half. Forest looked to be on their way to another victory as Suzanne Davies put them back in front with fifteen minutes left, but Longhurst once again replied to give Millwall a point two minutes later.
