Liverpool v Charlton Athletic

F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Charlton Athletic produced one of the surprises of the Fourth Round, a penalty shootout victory over Reading FC Women following a 2-2 draw and, in the last sixteen, they will travel to play Liverpool.

Liverpool Ladies FC came into being in 1994 when Knowsley United, who were beaten by Doncaster Belles in the FA Women's Cup Final in the same year, changed their name and were adopted by the Reds. The club reached the Final in each of the next two seasons but again finished as runners-up on both occasions, going down to Arsenal and Croydon.

In recent seasons, Liverpool have moved between the National Division and Northern Division on a number of occasions, winning the Northern Division title three times - the last of which came in 2009-10. This time however they did not make a return to the top flight in the Premier League as they were selected as one of the eight clubs to be inaugural members of the newly formed FA Women's Super League - the FA WSL.

Manager Robbie Johnson has been assembling a new squad for the challenge of the new league, including Scottish internationals Megan Sneddon and Suzanne Lappin, Michelle Evans from Everton plus Nicky Harding, Lynda Shepherd and Nikki Twohig from Blackburn Rovers. Captain Vicky Jones, along with twin sister Kelly, have been long serving members of the club as well as the likes of Cheryl Foster and Jo Traynor.

Skelmersdale United FC will host the tie in which Liverpool will be hot favourites due to their status but this will be their first competitive match of the season and Charlton will be seeking to build on their terrific result in the last round.
