City send holders out - 14 Mar 2011 - Women's Football NewsGlasgow City got the women's football season in Scotland off to a start with a stunning 8-0 victory over Celtic in the Premier League Cup.

Emma Mitchell struck a hat-trick as the reigning Champions eliminated the Cup holders and Rachel Corsie weighed in with a double. Leanne Ross, from the penalty spot, Lisa Evans and Jane Ross also got on the scoresheet to send City into the quarter finals.

Only one of the other First Round ties survived the weather and it saw former winners Spartans go through to the last eight by beating Forfar Farmington 3-2. The prolific Diana Barry scored a hat-trick for the Edinburgh side, with Julia Scott and Nicola Davidson replying for Forfar.
