Derby County blew the Northern Division title race open as a late goal gave them a 1-0 victory over leaders Manchester City. Nancy Campbell marked her last match for the club before returning to New Zealand by scoring the only goal of the game, heading in a last minute free kick taken by Sam Griffiths. The result means that second placed Derby have reduced City's lead to five points but at least five teams are right back in the hunt. Form team Aston Villa are definitely one of the contenders as they recorded their fifth victory on the trot, 4-1 away to Rochdale. Carly Davies has propelled herself to the top of the divisional scoring charts, netting a hat-trick to take her season's tally to 10, and Kelly Clarke added the other with Emma Fletcher scoring Dale's consolation. Another in-form striker helped Coventry City to a 5-0 victory at Preston North End which maintains their challenge. Kirsty Robson scored a hat-trick for the second week in succession and Leanne McKenna weighed in with the other two goals. Leicester City moved back into fifth place and kept their hopes alive by beating Newcastle Utd 1-0. A fierce 40-yard strike by Natasha Meade in the 41st minute gave City the points against a very resolute Newcastle side.
