England were beaten 2-0 by Iceland in their opening match of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship second qualifying round in Jaworzno. The first half ended goalless but Iceland went ahead within six minutes of the restart with a strike from substitute Gudmunda Brynja Oladottir. Iceland sewed up the game in injury time when Elin Metta Jensen scored a killer second goal. England will need nothing less than a victory from their second group match on Monday against Sweden, who lost 3-1 to hosts Poland in the other game. England Under-17: Sophie Harris, Aoife Mannion, Paige Williams, Sherry McCue, Meaghan Sargeant, Leah Galton, Melissa Lawley, Jessica Round (sub Katie Zelem 76mins), Katie Wilkinson, Elizabeth Ince (sub Jessica Sigsworth 56mins), Lucy Gunton-Jones. Subs not used: Lauren Haynes, Jasmine Elliott, Beth Merrick, Lucy Whipp, Hollie Kelsh.
