PHSC plc has entered into a partnership with Charlton Athletic Community Trust, to provide funding for Women's and Girls football for a period of five years from April 2011.
Under the agreement, PHSC plc has committed to invest a minimum of £15,000 per annum, in sponsorship and patronage. This funding will generate a total of around £75,000 over five years for women's and girls football at Charlton. Personal sponsorship offers have also been made to a number of players in and around the first team. Retaining our best talent is seen as an important step towards re-establishing Charlton Athletic amongst the elite of women's football.
PHSC will also operate a contingency fund which can offer further support where necessary, to deal with any additional requirements.
The status of the Charlton Women's set up, with an FA Centre of Excellence, has been a significant factor of PHSC plc's desire to provide ongoing support and sponsorship.
Stephen King, CEO of PHSC plc and a life long Charlton Athletic supporter said: "I have been very impressed with the progress made under Paul Mortimer's stewardship. The Centre of Excellence teams have put in some great performances, the Academy programme has been expanded, the Women's First Team currently sit top of the league, and the reserves have reached the Kent Cup Final."
"I am very pleased that PHSC plc has now signed this enhanced sponsorship agreement that will see the company's name appear on all shirts and kits across all age groups for a five year term. This partnership brings higher visibility to the PHSC brand and gives much-needed financial security to the women's and girls' set-up"
Paul Mortimer, Technical Director for Women and Girls Football, said, "PHSC plc have been fantastic in their support so far and Stephen King has really embraced us and is actively involved in everything we are doing. They are not just looking at now, but also to the future of women and girls football at Charlton and we hope this remains a strong partnership over the coming years."
