Having finished as runners-up in three of the last four seasons, Plymouth Argyle have finally made it to the Premier League as their 3-1 victory over Cullompton Rangers confirmed them as Champions of the South West Combination.
Following a nervous opening half, the teams were level at
1-1 going into the interval, Laura Gough having levelled a Cully opener. Argyle had most of the pressure, but Cullompton pushed the Greens all the way until former Cully player Rachael Javan bundled the ball over the line to give Argyle a deserved lead midway through the half.
The match was settled ten minutes from time when another former Cully player, Ellis Hillman, smashed a glorious cross shot past Cully keeper Maxine Coupe from the edge of the area to being the Plymouth celebrations.
