Rochdale are delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Walmsley as the club's new first team manager for the start of the 2011-12 season.
Walmsley, who has past experience in the Northern Division of the Premier League with spells as manager at Manchester City, and also as assistant manager at Preston North End. His career has seen him at Burnley, Darwen, Garswood Saints, and Blackpool in which he has won seven league titles with seven different clubs in a career that has spanned over 12 years.
Steve described his excitement with his new role at the club: "I'm very proud to be managing Rochdale AFC Ladies as it has been a club on the up for the last ten seasons, and it's an honour to take over the reins from departing manager Phil Pearson and Dave Yates.
"I do have a very tough act to follow but it's a challenge I will thrive on. My first aim is to tell the current players of my aims and ambitions for the coming season.
"I will also have my new backroom staff that will be joining me, so I am delighted to announce that Eddie Gregory - who was my No.2 at Man City and Blackpool - will be my new assistant along with Paul Cooke. I will also have a highly qualified coach and an excellent female physio to add to my new structure who will also be joining up with us next week."
Phil Pearson will now be Vice-Chairman, and Dave Yates will continue as Chairman of Rochdale AFC Ladies.
