Copsewood (Coventry) continued their pre-season schedule with a hard fought 2-1 victory against East Midlands League Premier Division outfit Mansfield Town.
Played in a gale force wind, both teams took a while to get used to the conditions but Copsewood eventually began to dictate play and their hard wark was rewarded when Nicola Foskett scored her fourth goal of the pre-season campaign. Copsewood continued to dominate the rest of the half but were unable to convert any of the number of chances they were creating.
Mansfield started the second half better and with the wind becoming even stronger, the game turned into more of a battle rather than a football match and after a mix-up in the Copsewood box, Mansfield were able to level the game at 1-1. The goal seemed to spark a fresh piece of life into the Copsewood players however and after missing even more chances and with the game seemingly heading for a draw, Stacey Christie slotted the ball past the Mansfield keeper with little more than two minutes remaining to seal the win for the Coventry-based side.
Copsewood now turn their attentions to Wednesday night when they travel to play National Division side Nottingham Forest.
