 Women's Football News 18 Aug 2011
Luke takes helm at Leicester - 18 Aug 2011 - Women's Football NewsLeicester City Women FC will be kicking off the season with a new manager and a host of exciting signings.
Luke Turner has been brought in to replace Hannah Dingley, who was only appointed at the end of June. Things, however, have not worked out in pre-season and Turner has been recruited from Manchester side Curzon Ashton.

"I was really pleased to get the call from Leicester," said Turner, who previously managed Crewe Alexandra and has coached at Manchester and Leeds United Girls Centre of Excellence. "It has been a hectic time since taking charge of the team and the support from everyone involved at the club has been second to none.

"The players' attitudes have been brilliant and I am sure this is a club that is definitely going places, which is what attracted me to it in the first place. I am really pleased to be here and very excited about the new challenge."

Defender Natasha Hughes has joined from Doncaster Rovers Belles and the attack has been strengthened by addition of Shona Franklin from Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest's Leeanne Woodford and Issy Hayes from Curzon Ashton. Former City stalwart Caz Toone makes a return to the club and more signings are in the pipeline over the next few days as Turner continues to look to strengthen his squad.

Chairman Craig White said: "Luke is a bright, up and coming manager and has been on our radar for a liitle while now and we are pleased to have him on board and everyone at the club wishes him well."

The team will be captained by Sammy Morris with Katie Mcloughlin appointed vice-captain. There have been additions to the backroom staff and Jason Withe, son of former Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa forward Peter Withe, will be involved in coaching the women's squad. Withe has also been installed as Centre of Excellence director. Local coaches Brett Appleby and Mike Malawer have been brought in to run the youthful reserve side.
