Claire hits two in Scotland win
 Women's Football News 20 Aug 2011

Scotland Under-19 4 (Emslie 2,79, Weir 77, McSorley 85) Poland Under-19 0
Shelley Kerr's Scotland Under-19 side prepared for the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship qualifiers with a comfortable win over Poland in Livingston.

The Scotland team, playing together for the first time at this age group, produced an assured performance, capped by four impressive goals.

Claire Emslie opened the scoring in just two minutes. Lana Clelland showed great awareness to switch play, picking out Emslie, who took a touch before unleashing her shot.

It was deep into the second half before Scotland struck again. Caroline Weir showed great individual skill, ghosting past four players before striking from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later Emslie grabbed her second, powering into the top corner after a quick counter attack.

Captain Eilish McSorley wrapped up the win with five minutes to go, rising above the packed penalty box to bullet a header in at the back post.

Shelley Kerr told www.scottishfa.co.uk: "There were some great individual performances tonight, but the overall team performance was the most pleasing aspect for me. This is a new year group who've only had a few training sessions together, so I was delighted by such an organised and disciplined display.

"At 1-0 Poland had some chances to level the game, but defensively we were very strong, and there were a few well timed tackles. We looked sharp going forward all night, and I was pleased that we managed to get more goals in the second half.

"We have some very young players in the squad, but there are also a few who have a lot of experience at this level, like our captain captain Eilish McSorley who led by example tonight.

"This kind of performance gives us confidence as a group as we prepare for the Euro qualifiers in September."

Scotland travel to Finland to take on Faroe Islands, Belarus and Finland on 17, 19 and 22 September in the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship first qualifying round.

Scotland Under-19: Hannah Reid, Emma Brownlie, Chloe Craig, Stefanie Malcolm, Eilish McSorley, Rebecca Zoltie, Lana Clelland, Caroline Weir, Heather Richards, Lucy Clark, Claire Emslie. Subs: Lauren Sangster, Kirstin McGuire, Kelly Clark, Kirsty Smith, Gillian Sloey, Megan Bradley, Fiona Brown.
