Wales Under-17 were beaten 3-0 by Denmark in the first match of their friendly double header at Airbus UK Broughton F.C.
The Danes were always expected to be difficult opponents and so it proved, as they took the lead after just eleven minutes following a corner that failed to be cleared. In the melee, Laura Larsen scored for Denmark from close range. A second goal followed in similar circumstances from Laura Joest Jakobsen after 19 minutes to put the Danes firmly in control.
The second half was only five minutes old when a third Danish goal came from Frederikke Thogersen from a crisp shot from some twelve yards out that beat Wales keeper Ffion Ashman. The goal was slightly harsh on Wales who had come back into the game well in the final fifteen minutes of the first half.
Both sides took the opportunity to make substitutions in the second half and inevitably the flow of the game was disrupted.
The return match in the double header takes place at Maesdu Park, Llandudno, on Sunday lunchtime at 12.30pm.
Wales Under-17: Ffion Ashman, Rhian Cleverly, Katie Williams (sub Bridie Davies 72mins), Mali Summers, Ashleigh James, Hannah Lewis (sub Rachael Nattrass 40mins), Angharad Chambers (sub Sydney Hinchcliffe 40mins), Rachel Hignett, Emma Beynon (sub Samantha Quayle 72mins), Allie Young (sub Georgia Evans 60mins), Ellie Leek (sub Sophia Rees 60mins).
