Blackburn Rovers replaced Leicester City as leaders of the Northern Division by winning 4-2 in their top of the table clash.
A whirlwind 28 minutes by Blackburn unhinged Leicester early on with goals from Keeleigh Savage and Nicky Twohig putting them two ahead after 13 minutes and Charlotte Hayes struck home a 25-yard free kick just before the half hour. The Foxes got back into the game when Shona Franklin scored five minutes before the interval.
Franklin again reduced the arrears with her second goal but Rovers sealed the game when Hannah Forster fired home three minutes from time.
Sheffield FC are a point off the pace in third following their 4-1 victory away to Rotherham Utd. Jodie Michalska gave Sheffield a 22nd minutes lead with Ellie Gilliatt and Leanne De Silva adding further goals before half time. Nat Shaw pulled a goal back for Rotherham ten minutes into the second half but Michalska wrapped up the win when she completed her double.
Preston North End made it three wins on the trot when they scored six without reply away to Leeds City Vixens. Gemma Watson netted a first half hat-trick and Melissa Ball also found the net, before Watson added her fourth after the break and Alison Taberner rounded off the scoring.
Manchester City meanwhile notched up their first victory of the season, 3-1 away to Derby County. The home side took a second minute lead through Lauren Steadman but City were level shortly afterwards with an equaliser from Krystle Johnston. Felicity Middleton headed City in front after the break and Becky Lee secured the points with the third goal.
Honours were shared as Rochdale and Sporting Club Albion fought out a goalless draw which means that both sides currently sit in mid-table.
