Leeds lead after felling Forest
 Women's Football News 13 Sep 2011
Leeds Utd are the new leaders of the National Division following their 2-0 victory away to Nottingham Forest.
Hayley Sharp and Faye Birkby scored the goals which take Leeds to the top of the table on goal difference.
Coventry City claimed their third successive win, beating Champions Sunderland 3-1 to lift themselves into second place. Beth Mead kept up her good start to the season by giving the Wearsiders a 27th minute but Coventry responded well and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk levelled the scores ahead of half time. Maz Gauntlett then produced two superb strikes to take the points for her side.
Aston Villa sit in third place after they returned home from Charlton Athletic with a 3-0 victory. Sherry McCue scored twice and Kelly Clarke the other to secure the win for Villa who are yet to concede a goal so far in their three matches.
Barnet broke their duck for the season in some style, running out 5-1 winners over Reading FC Women at Underhill. Danielle Murphy gave Barnet a 12th minute lead which was quickly cancelled out by Nikki Watts with her sixth goal of the season. Stacey Sowden then netted twice in three minutes to put Barnet two ahead at the break and the striker went on to complete a great personal day by completing a four-goal haul with two more second half strikes.
Cardiff City meanwhile made sure of their first victory of the season, a 2-1 success away to Watford who still seek their first points. Zoe Atkins gave Cardiff a first half lead and Ellie Smith headed home the second and they held on for the points despite Sarah Wiltshire reducing the arrears for the home side.
