Sheffield go top
 Women's Football News 19 Sep 2011
Sheffield FC swept to the top of the Northern Division on the back of a 5-0 victory over Leeds City Vixens.
Lisa Giampalma opened the scoring for Sheffield on 17 minutes and they added further goals through Jodie Michalska and Leanne De Silva. Michalska completed her double midway through the second half with Georgina Benjamin rounding off the win in the dying minutes.
Blackburn Rovers had started the day as leaders but they are back in second place following their 2-2 draw with Derby County. Sam Griffiths put Derby ahead on the stroke of half time with Levi Penny equalising twelve minutes after the restart. Cara Newton swiftly restored Derby's lead but Keeleigh Savage struck six minutes later to preserve Blackburn's unbeaten record.
Sporting Club Albion defeated Rotherham Utd 2-0 to lift themselves back into the top half of the table. Abby Pope gave Albion the lead five minutes before half time and Emily Owen sewed up the points with the second goal, late in the second half.
