Wales settle for second place
 Women's Football News 23 Sep 2011
Wales Under-19 lost 2-0 to Iceland this afternoon, but still qualified for the Elite Round of the UEFA Under-19 Championships in the Spring.
Both sides went into the game unbeaten, having two wins each from the matches with Slovenia and Kazakhstan. That was good enough to make the final game of academic interest, as both go through to the Elite Round as they already had six points reach, whilst Kazakhstan and Slovenia had yet to record a point.
The scoreline was goalless at half time, but Iceland struck in the 74th and 76th minutes to take the points in front of their own fans.
It was a disappointing end to a succesful tournament, but Wales can now look forward to an attempt to qualify for the finals in the summer of 2012.
Wales Under-19: Katy Maddock, Sophie Davies, Sophie Cole, Lauren Price, Danielle Oates, Angharad James, Ellis Parsons, Hayley Ladd, Ellie Curson (sub Jordan Guard 76mins), Megan Wynne (sub Rachel Hignett 34mins), Hannah Keryakopolis (sub Shanelle Edwards 80mins). Subs not used: Alice Evans, Alex George, Amy Thrupp, Rebekah Hadley.
