Sheffield FC have edged two points clear at the top of the Northern Division following their 3-1 victory over Rochdale.
Jodie Michalska gave Sheffield a sixteenth minute lead which was doubled ahead of the break by Leanne De Silva. Ellie Gilliatt added a third just after the hour mark before a Natasha Cooke own goal gave Rochdale a late consolation.
Preston North End's five-match winning run was halted as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City. Gemma Watson put Preston ahead after fifteen minutes with a low drive from 20 yards and Shona Franklin shot narrowly wide at the other end for City. The game was evenly poised in the second period with City's Nicola Van der Weerdhof pulling off two fine saves but Leicester scored an equaliser in the 86th minute when Franklin outpaced the Preston back four to slot home after a fine through ball from captain Sammy Morris.
Third placed Sporting Club Albion also drew, 1-1 away to Derby County. Lauren Steadman was on target for Derby, with Robyn James finding the net for Albion.
Blackburn Rovers got back to winning ways when beating Rotherham Utd 2-1. Hannah Forster and Nicole Forster netted the goals for Rovers, with Rotherham replying through Rachael Rutherford.
Manchester City made it four victories on the trot when scoring eleven without reply against Leeds City Vixens. Krystle Johnston led the scoring with a four-goal haul, all of which came in the first half, and Sarah Buffel weighed in with a hat-trick. Danni Young netted twice after the break and the tally was completed by Saffron Jordan and Kelly McLellan.
