Reigning Champions Sunderland have gone top of the National Division table for the first time this season after coming away from previous leaders Leeds Utd with a 1-0 victory.
The only goal of the game came in the fourteenth minute through in-form young striker Beth Mead but the Wearsiders had to work hard in order to secure the three points.
A win would have seen Coventry return to the leadership but they went down 3-0 away to Barnet. All of the goals came in the first half, Vicky Boardman and Alex Keown putting the Bees two ahead just before the half hour and Stacey Sowden added the third on 43 minutes.
Charlton Athletic held on to fifth place, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Watford. Gemma Bryan opened the scoring for the Addicks in the 26th minute and substitute Kristina Manktelow rounded off the win with the second goal on the stroke of half time.
Cardiff City still sport the division's only remaining unbeaten record following their 2-0 win away to Reading FC Women, goals coming from Nicola Cousins and Natasha Harding (see match report).
Nottingham Forest continue to improve and their 2-1 victory at Aston Villa has taken them out of the bottom two. A Jade Richards own goal gave Forest an early lead which was cancelled out after the break by Carly Davies, but Suzanne Davies grabbed the winner with eleven minutes remaining to give Forest their second straight win.
