Bristol Ladies Union v Swindon Supermarine
 Women's Football News 22 Oct 2011
F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Bristol Ladies Union won their first ever F.A.Women's Cup tie, a thrilling 5-3 local derby victory against Downend Flyers. Goalkeeper Danielle Dunkerley netted one of the goals from the penalty spot with the others coming from Katy Little, Jo Walford, Chantelle Julienne and Katie Corkhill. Union will now play at home to Swindon Supermarine for whom Michelle Rich netted twice and Mel Bristow the other in their
3-1 win against Forest of Dean.
The ladies section at Swindon Supermarine FC was formed in 2008 and they entered the Gloucestershire County Women's League, winning the Division Two title at the first attempt. The following season, they carried off the league title and completed the League and Cup 'double' by beating Bitton in the League Cup Final, subsequently winning promotion to Eastern Division One of the South West League.
The first season in the new league saw Supermarine finish as runners-up to Salisbury City. This time around, following a slow start, they have picked up their form and currently lie in mid-table.
The team is managed by Dave Smith and leading scorer is Michelle Rich, who has previously played in the Premier League with Bristol City. Mel Bristow is a consistent goalscorer at this level whilst other key players in the squad include the likes of midfielder Dennika Bretti, Claire Moreton and Alice Smith.
The match takes place at Union's home ground at Coombe Dingle and the home side will go into the game as the favourites but Supermarine's squad includes a number of players with higher level experience and should not be underestimated.
