With Sunderland not in action, Leeds Utd took the opportunity to replace them at the top of the National Division with a 3-0 victory away to Watford.
Carey Huegett gave Leeds the lead in the ninth minute and the striker doubled their advantage after the break with her second goal. Clare Sykes rounded off the win for Leeds with four minutes remaining.
Coventry City are back in second place after they defeated Reading FC Women 1-0. Jade Formaston netted the only goal of the game in the 19th minute as the Sky Blues avenged their defeat by Reading on the opening day of the season.
Barnet moved themselves up amongst the leading clubs, thanks to a 4-0 win against Aston Villa. Jess Trimnell gave Barnet the lead in the fourth minute and Stacey Sowden added a second shortly before the half hour. Early in the second half, Victoria Boardman further increased the Bees' advantage and Sowden completed her double eleven minutes from time.
Nottingham Forest's run of three straight victories was brought to a halt as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Charlton Athletic. Gemma Bryan put the Addicks ahead on the quarter hour and they secured the points with strikes either side of the hour mark from Kim Dixson and Bryan, who netted her second.
