The battle for the runners-up spot in the Scottish Women's Premier League will go down to the final day of the season next week following Sunday's results.
However Hibernian's chances of finishing in second place have come to an end after they completed their fixtures with a goalless draw against Celtic.
The result allowed Spartans the chance to step up their challenge, which they did with a 9-0 victory over Falkirk. Lana Clelland, Kirsty McLaughlin and Sarah Ewens all scored twice with one apiece from Louise Mason, Diana Barry and Claire Crosbie to lift the Edinburgh side above Celtic into third place, level on points with Hibs.
The outcome will be decided next Sunday when Celtic take on Spartans in the final match of the campaign. A draw will be enough to secure second place for Spartans whilst Celtic will go into the match needing a victory.
Forfar Farmington clinched a fifth place finish for themselves with a 2-1 victory away to Hamilton Academicals. Fay Hughes and Kelly Clark netted the goals for Forfar, who have had a fine season, while Susan Fairlie replied for the Accies.
The honours were shared as Inverness City and Rangers battled out a 2-2 draw. Hannah Gordon and Natalie Bodlam were on target for Inverness, with Rangers finding the net through Jennifer Callaghan and Alana Marshall.
Hutchison Vale meanwhile ran out 5-0 winners over FC Kilmarnock. Laura Gavin led the scoring with a four-goal haul and she was joined on the scoresheet by Katherine Smart.
