Swans go to Wrexham
 Women's Football News 1 Nov 2011
Wrexham will host holders Swansea City in the quarter finals of the FA of Wales Cup after the draw was made in Cardiff on Monday.
Premier League side Cardiff City have a long journey north to face Llandudno Junction. The winner of the postponed tie between Caernarfon Town and Tregarron Turfs will face a trip to the capital to play UWIC whilst either Trefelin or Bridgend Town shall host Caerphilly Castle.
Swansea City progressed into the Third Round after a scare against South Wales Women's League side Valleys Utd who led at half time. Ian Owen's team scored twice after the break though, as the Swans won 2-1 courtesy of goals from Lindsey Morgan and Chloe O'Connor. Wales Under-19 international Jodie Passmore also missed a penalty for Swansea.
Cardiff City meanwhile went through to the quarter final stages with a convincing 5-0 victory over local rivals Cyncoed. Despite a plucky performance on a sticky surface, Cyncoed had no answers to Cardiff's movement and their experience proved too much. After only five minutes, Ellie Smith provided a pinpoint cross for Nicola Cousins to head home and Steph Williams hammered the second home from just outside the penalty area with a shot that flew past goalkeeper Michelle Pervin into the top left hand corner. On the half hour Cardiff again worked the flanks with Zoe Atkins crossing for Natasha Harding to head home. After the break, Nia Jones made it four with a long range shot low into the left hand corner and Annie Pritchard completed the scoring in the 80th minute when Townsend floated in a lovely delivery for her to head home Cardiff's fifth.
The match between Trefelin and Bridgend was postponed and will now be played at Goytre Utd under floodlights on Wednesday 2nd November and the game between Caernarfon Town Ladies and Tregaron Turfs FC was also called off.
Third Round Draw:
Llandudno Junction v Cardiff City
Trefelin or Bridgend Town v Caerphilly Castle
Wrexham v Swansea City
UWIC v Caernarfon Town or Tregarron Turfs
Matches to be played on or before 20th November 2011
