Sunderland returned to the top of the National Division following an impressive 4-1 win away to Barnet.
Kelly McDougall gave the Wearsiders a first half lead from the penalty spot which was cancelled out ahead of the break by Vicky Boardman. In the second half, Beth Mead netted twice and Kiera Ramshaw added the other to give the reigning Champions a valuable three points and top spot on goal difference once again.
Coventry City went into the day as leaders but they are now in third place after going down 1-0 at home to Leeds Utd, who move above them into second. After Faye Birkby had hit the bar early on for Leeds, Coventry were given a great chance to go in front when Kerry Bartlett was brought down in the area but Katy Male hit the post from the resulting penalty. The decisive goal came in the 57th minute as Hayley Sharp converted a cross from Carey Huegett to give Leeds victory against one of the other main contenders.
Charlton Athletic and Reading FC Women battled out a 1-1 draw which leaves both teams in mid-table positions. Reading hot shot Nikki Watts put her side in front just after the hour with Ellie Bailes equalising for the Addicks a minute later (see match report).
Cardiff City played only their sixth league match of the season and they stay in the bottom two, albeit with several games in hand, after their game with the team immediately above them, Nottingham Forest, finished goalless.
