Sheffield FC have regained the leadership of the Northern Division with a 3-0 victory over Sporting Club Albion.
Albion had started the day in second place but following a goalless first half, Sheffield netted twice within four minutes of the restart, both goals coming from Jodie Michalska. Kayleigh Mitchell added a third midway through the second half to help take her side two points clear.
Previous leaders Leicester City were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City who are up into fourth, just five points off the pace. In an evenly contested first half, Natalie Reay hit a powerful shot for Leicester that was brilliantly turned over by keeper Danni Brown and at the other end, Nicola Van De Weerdhof made a great save from Krystal Johnston. In the 41st minute, the game turned on it's head when Natasha Hughes brought down Amanda Goodwin in the area and Lindsey Savage duly obliged from the penalty spot.
The Citizens played the better football in the second half and went further in front on 73 minutes when Johnston's cross was headed home by Danni Young and in the dying seconds, Young crossed for Becky Grocott to fire home the third.
Honours were shared as the all-Lancashire match between Rochdale and Blackburn Rovers finished in a 1-1 draw. Lagan Makin looked to have put Blackburn on their way to victory but they were pegged back late on by a Sophie Riley equaliser.
Rotherham Utd continue to improve as they shared a 1-1 draw with Preston North End. Grace John did put Rotherham in front with five minutes remaining but Preston battled back shortly afterwards to earn themselves a point through Jenna Carroll.
