Bristol Ladies Union v Forest Green Rovers
 Women's Football News 13 Nov 2011
F.A.Women's Cup - Road to the Final
Bristol Ladies Union kept up their good start to life in the F.A.Women's Cup with a 3-2 win against Swindon Supermarine, thanks to a brace of goals from Juliette Denny and a strike by Chantelle Julienne. They have been rewarded with a home tie against Combination opposition in the form of Forest Green Rovers, who enter the competition at the Third Round Qualifying stage.
Forest Green Rovers LFC was initially formed as Chalford Ladies and came under the wing of the Nailsworth club in 2002-03. In their first season under their new name the team was very successful, winning the South West League title and with it the Pat Sowden Trophy, earning themselves a place in the South West Combination where they have remained ever since. One name who has been regularly on the scoresheet over the years for the club is Phil Helliwell who was top scorer for many years in succession.
In 2008-09, after being runners-up for a number of years, the club finally won the Gloucestershire County Cup when beating Cheltenham Town in the Final. Currently the leading female club in the community, the squad includes County representatives, ex-English University players and players with Premier League experience.
Forest Green are managed by Josh Giddens, a UEFA A qualified coach, and is assisted by long serving club member Jackie Howard. The team, which has got off to a good start in the South West Combination, is captained by Kirsty Richardson who has played at the highest level for Bristol City and Bristol Academy as has striker Charlotte King. Jodie Sheppard and Natalie Holbrook are key members of the squad whilst Paige Stewart and Katie Cook are regularly on the scoresheet from midfield and Ella Hitchcox is a promising young winger.
The tie takes place at Coombe Dingle and Union will need to be at their best if they are to cause an upset against a Forest Green side which contains much experience of these kind of matches.
