Blackburn Rovers boss Scott Rogers has hailed the signings of strikers Katie Anderton and Lagan Makin, who have both returned for second spells at the club.
Katie first joined Rovers in 2003 and was named in Hope Powell's provisional England squad ahead of the 2007 World Cup after setting new highs in the scoring stakes at club level.
She joined Doncaster Rovers Belles in June 2010 ahead of the inaugural FA WSL season, but has been given special dispensation from the FA for her to return to her roots.
"It is great to have someone of her ability back in the squad," said Rogers. "She gives us a different dimension and a cutting edge and experience that we've missed.
"She is technically very gifted and she has a cool, calm head when it comes to finishing."
Lagan played under Rogers for Rovers Reserves as a 16-year-old, but left the club in search of first team football. However, she has now returned from Northern Division rivals Manchester City, for whom she scored a hat-trick against Sheffield FC earlier this season.
"She is a great signing for us," he added. "I never wanted her to leave, but circumstances meant that she moved on. She was never happy after she left, but and she's much happier now that's she's back.
"She's left-footed, extremely fast, technically very good and has scored two in two for us in the league."
