Northern Combination
With Newcastle Utd not having a game, Sheffield Wednesday took the opportunity to open up a lead of three points at the top of the table with a 2-0 victory away to Cheadle Heath Nomads, thanks to goals from Katie Nutter and Jess Tait.
Stockport County returned to winning ways with a fine 3-0 success at Liverpool Feds. Kayleigh Rowe netted twice for County, with Bet Langford also on the scoresheet.
There were plenty of goals on offer at Middlesbrough where the home side leapfrogged Wakefield and out of the bottom two by beating them 8-4. Sarah Manning led the scoring for 'Boro with a hat-trick, Rachel McKnight weighed in with a brace and there was one apiece from Lindsey Stephenson, Susan Badger and Rachel Hine.
Midland Combination
Leicester City edged themselves into fourth place, just four points off the pace, after they battled out a goalless draw with mid-table Loughborough Students.
In the other game played, Loughborough Foxes moved closer towards mid-table security by running out 4-0 winners over TNS Ladies. Gemma Gilman, Emily Lewin, Vicky Brackenbury and Amy Burle were all on target for the Foxes.
South West Combination
Newquay are back in sixth place following their 5-1 success away to Keynsham Town Development in the solitary match to take place on Sunday. Annie Richards and Kirsty Lang each netted twice, with Sarah Badham adding the other to give the Cornish side only their second league win of the season.
*No matches were played in the South East Combination on Sunday.
