Manchester City hit top spot in the Northern Division for the first time this season with a 4-0 victory over Rotherham Utd.
After having lost their first three matches of the season, City notched up their ninth win in ten games as Becky Grocott netted twice, with other goals from Sarah Buffel and Becky Lee.
City lead on goal difference from Sporting Club Albion, who bounced back from their defeat the previous Sunday to win 7-4 away to Leeds City Vixens. Emily Owen led the scoring for Albion with a hat-trick and there were doubles from Ashleigh Neville and Robyn James.
Leicester City had started the day as leaders but they are back in third place after going down to a
2-0 defeat to Derby County. In heavy rain and on a slippery surface, both sides gave nothing away in this fierce local derby in the first period with only efforts by Michelle Kilmartin for the Rams and Leah Rawle for the Foxes. After the interval Vicky Gallagher fired over for City early on but Derby took the lead in the 66th minute when Precious Hamilton headed home a Sam Griffiths corner and in the 78th minute the Rams increased their lead when Hannah Baines fired home from another Griffiths corner to give them the points.
