C & K Basildon manager Peter King is confident that his team can acquit themselves well against Lewes in the F.A.Women's Cup this Sunday.
The Eastern Region League side play host to the runaway South East Combination leaders and King told Women's Soccer Scene that he and his players are looking forward to the challenge.
"For my part, this is a thrill as to reach the First Round proper after three qualifying rounds - all of which were tough in different ways - is a great credit to the team.
"We are going to enjoy the day and hopefully create an upset as Lewes will be hot favourites to win, but they need to remember that in pre-season we beat Gillingham Reserves, who had won their league the season before and we won well, so we will be no pushovers. We also drew with West Ham and Millwall.
"We have the quality and experience in the side as well as a great team spirit that has carried us through many battles. We have several former Premier League players in our ranks who are still hungry for success and who are enjoying renewed form in the new challenges that they face. We believe in good football played to feet, which is what we are renowned for, and which is the style we will play on Sunday."
First team coach Alan Richards added: "Reaching the First Round proper of the FA Cup is a reward for all the hard work that the ladies have put in since we started pre-season in the last week of June. The dedication and commitment that the ladies have shown this season has been fantastic and they should be very proud of themselves.
"We now have a very tough match as we face Lewes, the South East Combination leaders who have a 100% league record. But whatever the outcome, we will enjoy the day!"
