CWU help Chelmsford get kitted up
 Women's Football News 11 Feb 2012

CWU help Chelmsford get kitted up - 11 Feb 2012 - Women's Football NewsChelmsford City Ladies Football Club and the CWU have linked up in a kit sponsorship deal for this season.

Chelmsford City, one of the leading female football clubs in Essex, are pleased to announce the CWU as kit sponsors for one of their Women's teams this season. Their Essex County Women's League side have been kindly sponsored by the Communications Workers Union South East Branch which has enabled the team to purchase a new all claret playing kit.

The Club's Chairman and joint Team Manager, Gerald Jolly, a CWU member working for Openreach, is proud that the CWU have agreed to help the team purchase their new playing kit. "The team were playing in an old kit and I approached Nigel Waymark to see if my local branch were able to help in any way," he said. "I was astounded with the positive response I got and how quick the process took. It certainly made the team feel good running out each week in the new 'all claret kit' and they certainly look the part."

The team did the double last year, winning the league title to gain promotion to the Premier Division, as well as winning the League Cup. A number of their Under-16 team have stepped up into senior football for this season and they were looking to consolidate in the top division. They have surpassed all expectations so far as they look to be on the verge of scooping runners-up spot in the league as well as reaching the League Cup quarter finals.

Chelmsford City Ladies & Girls Football Club have been in existence since 1986 and have been one of the most successful clubs within Essex over the years, winning the coveted Essex County Cup on five separate occasions. They cater for females of all ages and abilities with youngsters as young as the age of six upwards and have teams playing at different age groups in their junior section and two ladies teams.
