Chelsea launch partnership with Staines Town - 24 Feb 2012 - Women's Football NewsChelsea held coaching sessions for local school children at Staines Town Football Club to celebrate a new partnership between the two clubs on Thursday.
Chelsea FC Foundation coaches hosted an hour-long coaching session alongside Ladies first team players and their manager at Wheatsheaf Park, which will become the new home ground for Chelsea Ladies in the upcoming FA Women's Super League season.
Chelsea Ladies and manager Matt Beard interacted with participants as the coaching sessions took place while keeping their eyes peeled for future Blues. They also offered advice and expertise on women's football.
Children had the opportunity to win some exclusive Chelsea Ladies prizes and, once the coaching sessions were over, take part in a question and answer session with the players and manager.
Chelsea manager Matt Beard said: "It was a privilege to meet so many aspiring female footballers and get the chance to speak with them. Hopefully they'll continue playing football into their adulthood and who knows, one day some may even play for Chelsea Ladies."
On the new partnership with Staines, Beard added: "We're really looking forward to playing at Staines Town this season. The pitch at Wheatsheaf Park is always in a really good condition and it's an impressive stadium. We're hoping to build a strong fan base locally and thank them for their support by bringing some trophies home this season."
Matthew Boon, chairman of Staines Town Football Club, said: "We're very proud to host all of Chelsea Ladies' home games at Staines Town for the upcoming FA Women's Super League. Women's football is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and we hope Chelsea Ladies enjoy a lot of success at Wheatsheaf Park."
Chelsea will host Lincoln Ladies at Wheatsheaf Park in the Continental Cup on Sunday 18 March. They could also potentially host a side in the FA Cup on Sunday 11 March; the draw for that game will take place on Monday. The first FA WSL match at their new home will be on Easter Monday when Chelsea play Doncaster Rovers Belles in a game televised live by ESPN (3pm).
