Kinmel Bay and Cardiff in Final
 Women's Football News 13 Mar 2012
Kinmel Bay Girls and Cardiff City Ladies have set up an FAW Under 16 Girls Final Showdown following semi final victories on Sunday in Mid-Wales.
Kinmel Bay made the perfect start against Cimla at the Recreation Ground Caersws, when Sophie Jones slid in to score with just 56 seconds on the clock following some great work down the right wing by the impressive Kelsey Davies.
The North Wales Girls League team had four good chances to extend the lead before the interval, but failed to take any of them. Firsty, Cimla 'keeper Beth Harvey denied Lucy Vaughan who was through on goal and then Jones hit into the side netting, having rounded Harvey after a great through ball from Rosie Hughes. Vaughan had two further chances to extend the lead but she missed the target.
It was then inevitable that Kinmel Bay would be regretting not taking those chances and they were made to pay on the stroke of half-time when Cimla equalised with their only real chance of the half. Striker Sophie Amour took her chance well with a decisive volley following a defensive mix-up.
Kinmel Bay regained the lead twelve minutes into the second half as Georgia Williams connected with an excellent left foot drive from Kelsey Davies' cross. But Cimla's spirit and determination saw them equalise almost immediately afterwards. A well struck free kick from 20 yards wasn't held and Jessica Cooper was on hand to tap in the second equaliser.
The match could have gone either way from here, but Kinmel Bay's substitutions proved decisive. With just four minutes left on the clock Kinmel sub Emilie Revitt played a great ball from the right and the winner came courtesy of a volley from another sub Louisha Doran.
Cardiff City Ladies progressed courtesy of a 2-1 win over Prestatyn Girls at Latham Park, Newtown in the other semi final.
Courtney Luce and Katie Harris scored the goals to see Cardiff emulate their senior team's achievement of reaching a major Welsh Cup Final.
