Doncaster Rovers Belles are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian international midfielder Alyssa Lagonia from Ottawa Fury.
The 22-year-old is coming off an impressive W-League season where she was part of a Fury side that went all the way to the League Championship Final.
Alyssa has represented Canada at both Under-20 and senior level. The playmaker went to the Under-20 World Cup in Chile in 2008 and has made four senior appearances to date, making her debut against New Zealand in the Cyprus Cup in 2009.
The talented midfielder had a very successful university career at Laurier University and indeed won the Canadian University Player Of The Year Award last year.
Belles manager John Buckley said: "Alyssa has got good pedigree and has come through the Canadian national team system. She has great touch and technique and has an eye for a pass.
"She's a two-footed attacking midfielder and has great quality on the ball. I'm looking forward to working with her and I'm convinced that she will be a good addition to the squad."
Alyssa added: "I'm excited to be joining the Belles and playing in the UK. The standard is very high in the WSL and I'm looking forward to that challenge.
"I can't wait to make my debut and help the team do well this season."
Alyssa will wear the number 10 shirt and goes straight in to the Belles squad for the FA WSL Continental Cup tie at the Keepmoat Stadium against Bristol Academy this Sunday.
