Lions roar to tournament success!
 Women's Football News 17 Mar 2012

Tottenham Hotspur Foundation rounded off their International Women's Day celebrations on Friday evening.

Match Day Centres, Wadham Lodge, saw fifteen teams compete in the Foundation's forth Female Legends Tournament. The evening was a great advert for local women's football, with the standard of play being at its highest level so far.

Making it through the group stages and into the first semi final with a 100% record were Sawbridgeworth Town and they faced newcomers to the tournament, Tottenham Hotspur Yellow. Sawbo continued their undefeated run making it all the way to the final. The second semi final saw two newcomers battle it out for a place in the final, the undefeated Lions against Ladies Super Liga. Both teams had finished top of their groups. It was Lions who came out on top and made it through to face Sawbridgeworth Town in the final. The final was a close affair as the two undefeated records went head to head and it was the newcomers Lions who came out on top with a 2-0 victory.

The other winners on the night were Cows 2 who won the Fair Play award and the player of the Tournament trophy went to Rebecca Young for Lions.

Foundation Development Coach Olivia Worsfold was ecstatic with the latest tournament: "This has been our biggest tournament to date; we were even turning teams away. The ability shown by all teams tonight has been extremely high and any spectators were treated to some really entertaining football. We have one tournament left and we are hoping to have another great turnout. Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier!"

The final Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Female Legends Tournament is taking place at Match Day Centres, Wadham Lodge on Friday March 30th. Places are limited and a number of teams are already entered. Any team or players wanting to enter needing more information should contact Olivia Worsfold, Olivia.worsfold@tottenhamhotspur.com or call (07941) 970521.

Remember places are limited and are given on a first come first served basis.
