Sunderland edged closer towards retaining their Premier League title as they won 2-0 away to Charlton Athletic.
First half headed goals from Natalie Gutteridge and Rachel Furness earned the Wearsiders the points against the third placed Addicks and, given their advantage in goal difference, one more win from their remaining two games might be enough to see Mick Mulhern's side finish as Champions once again.
Leeds Utd are not giving up the fight in second place though and they remain three points behind following their 3-0 victory at Reading FC Women. Clare Sykes gave Leeds the lead shortly before half time and after the break, Amy Turner added the second via a deflected shot and Sarah Danby netted the final goal with ten minutes remaining. The result means that Leeds are guaranteed a top two finish.
Barnet were unable to take an opportunity to climb into third place after their game away to Aston Villa ended in a goalless draw.
The Bees hang on to fourth, just ahead of Coventry City who returned from Cardiff City with a 2-0 win. On a day when none of the home sides in the National Division scored a goal, the Sky Blues took the lead shortly before half time when Jade Formaston volleyed home and Nicole Dale slotted home the second on the hour mark.
