Kerry sends holders tumbling out
 Women's Football News 27 Mar 2012
Premier League Cup holders Barnet are out of the competition this time around after they went down to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Coventry City.
Kerry Bartlett scored the only goal of the game in the 24th minute to send the Sky Blues into the quarter finals for the first time.
The other performance of the day came at Portsmouth where the home side defeated National Division opponents Nottingham Forest 5-3. Jemma Tewkesbury fired home a 20-yard free kick 20 yards to give Pompey a third minute lead which was doubled by Charley Wilson. Jemma Connor-Iommi pulled a goal back for Forest but a minute later, Leeta Rutherford headed a well directed goal from a Tewkesbury free kick. Jemma Tewkesbury make it 4-1 via a near post volley from a Shelly Cox cross early in the second half and the former Yeovil winger completed her hat-trick from close range. Sophie Davies and Kelly Finley both reduced the arrears for Forest but Portsmouth are one stage away from last season's achievement of reaching the semi finals.
Former Cup winners Charlton Athletic came through an awkward local derby tie at Gillingham with a 2-0 victory. Kit Graham opened the scoring for the Addicks midway through the first half and Fliss Gibbons sewed up the points with the second goal, just after the hour.
Aston Villa eased through to the last eight by beating Rotherham Utd 5-1. Louise Fellows, Katie Wilkinson, Carly Davies, Ini Umotong and Kayleigh
Griffiths all found the net for Villa with Rotherham's solitary reply coming from Nat Shaw.
The only all-Southern Division tie went the way of West Ham Utd, who were narrow 1-0 victors over Millwall Lionesses in their local derby. Becky Merritt settled matters with the only goal of the game, four minutes before half time.
Revised quarter final draw:
Aston Villa v Sunderland or Manchester City
West Ham Utd v Coventry City
Charlton Athletic v Leeds Utd or Derby County
Reading FC Women or Blackburn Rovers v Portsmouth
