Details of the 2012 Loch Lomond Youth Soccer Festival to be held at the University of Stirling campus in August have been announced by event organisers.
The 2011 tournament was a resounding success, hosting 100 teams from ten nations, with approximately 2,000 children taking part. Last year's festival saw girls teams from Germany, Scotland and Finland participate.
2012 will be the twelfth year of the event and it looks set to continue its success with organisers already confirming that 1995 girls age group teams from both the USA and Brazil will travel to the festival.
The tournament has progressed from its humble origins in Balloch to being hosted by the University of Stirling. Tournament organisers describe the campus as "a world class football facility offering the very best in modern, safe, tournament accommodation which is just a short walk away from the beautiful grass pitches".
Alongside the football events, organisers are also planning a packed social schedule for players and parents. There will be players and adults discos, karaoke, a whisky tasting evening for parents, keepie-up demonstrations and a coaches game on the Friday night.
Games will be played on August 3rd, 4th and 5th with each team guaranteed a minimum of four matches. SFA National women's team staff will again be on site for the weekend to watch games. There will be girls sections for 1999, 1997 and 1995 year of birth, open to both residential and non-residential teams, but space is limited.
Further details can be found at the tournament website at www.lochlomondsoccer.com and applications can now be made online.
