Italy 4 (Alborghetti 18,90, Coppola 39,43) Scotland 2 (McSorley 30, Emslie 68)
Scotland's hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship Finals are hanging by a thread after a loss to Italy.
Despite an impressive 1-0 win over hosts Russia on the opening day, Scotland now sit in third place in the group and must defeat group leaders Spain in the last match to have any chance of advancing to the Finals.
The match had originally been scheduled for Monday but was postponed for 24 hours because of heavy rain in Sochi.
Each of the captains struck in the first half, Lisa Alborghetti opening the scoring on 18 minutes, before Eilish McSorley equalised for Scotland. Katia Coppola then scored twice to leave Shelley Kerr's side trailing 3-1 at the break.
Scotland battled back, with a Claire Emslie goal reducing the deficit, before Alborghetti grabbed her second in the final minute.
Scotland Under-19: Megan Cunningham, Chloe Craig, Eilish McSorley, Caroline Weir, Lana Clelland (sub Kirsty Smith 68mins), Rebecca Zoltie, Heather Richards, Emily Thomson, Claire Emslie, Kathryn Hill, Fiona Brown. Subs not used: Lauren Sangster, Kelly Clark, Siobhan Hunter, Kirsten McGuire, Emma Brownlie, Jennifer Callaghan.
