Doncaster Belles lifted the Krukowski Cup with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday Ladies in Sunday's final at Brodsworth.
This was a much closer affair than a week earlier when Belles won 6-0 to virtually assure themselves of runners-up spot in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County League behind Champions Rotherham United Women and effectively consign Wednesday to finish third.
Wednesday enjoyed the better of the first half, when they had the backing of a stiff breeze in sunny conditions, but tellingly were unable to break the deadlock. Their best chance fell to Emily Higgins whose shot flashed narrowly the wrong side of the keeper's left hand post.
The most incisive Belles move of the first half saw Jade Tilling break and cross low across the area with Lauren Earle arriving at the far side of the six yard box having her shot blocked by Emily Darwin.
It did not take long after the interval for Belles to seize the initiative and settle matters, Ella North scored from the edge of the box after a corner was not cleared and then Lauren Earle headed home from inside the six yard box at another corner just before the hour mark.
