Thomis hat-trick floors Wales
 Women's Football News 5 Apr 2012
France 4 (Thomis 9,38,50, Abily 80) Wales 0
Wales gave their all but succumbed to a 4-0 defeat against a powerful French side in front of a crowd of 16,000 in Caen.
The result puts France on the verge of qualifying for the Euro 2013 Finals and gives them a 'triple crown' of victories over British opposition in a month, having also beaten England and Scotland last month.
France were quickly into their stride with Gaethene Thiney firing wide but they were ahead in the ninth minute when Elodie Thomis broke through to chip Nicola Davies for the opener.
Wales found themselves under increasing pressure as Marie-Laure Delie and Thiney both had shots blocked and Delie also had a shot saved by Davies.
Davies again saved from Delie and Elise Bussaglia shot wide but the pressure eventually told shortly before half time as Thomis netted her second with a flick from a Louisa Necib corner.
Wales made a change at half time with Helen Bleazard replacing Gwennan Harries and they managed their first shot on goal when Michelle Green shot wide but moments later, France were three ahead when Thomis completed her hat-trick after latching on to Thiney's through ball.
The speedy Thomis was proving hard to handle and she was denied a fourth by Davies, who also saved from a Necib free kick.
Wales continued to battle to try and get themselves back into the game and came closest as Jayne Ludlow had a shot blocked from a Sarah Wiltshire corner but France were to have the final say, rounding off the scoring ten minutes from time when substitute Camille Abily scored.
It was a tough lesson for Wales against world class opposition but they will aim to learn from the experience for their next qualifier away to Republic of Ireland in June. However they will be without full back Loren Dykes who picked up her second booking and will miss the match through suspension.
