Sunderland and Leeds Utd have battled out the Premier League title between themselves throughout the season and they will contest more silverware after both teams booked their place in the Premier League Cup Final.
Sunderland produced a powerful display to run out 8-0 winners over Blackburn Rovers from the Northern Division. Keira Ramshaw led the scoring with a hat-trick whilst Beth Mead, on her return from injury, weighed in with a brace. Kelly McDougall, Robin Chidester and Sophie Williams rounded off the victory by netting a goal apiece.
Meanwhile Leeds Utd, winners of the competition two years ago, got through a much closer semi final with a 2-0 success away to Coventry City.
Tanya Rich gave Leeds a flying start to the match by putting them in front after just three minutes when she converted a Leah Galton cross at the second attempt. There were chances at both ends but with fifteen minutes remaining, substitute Emma Johnson sealed the win for Leeds with a well executed volley from the edge of the area.
The Final will take place at Northampton Town FC's Sixfields Stadium on Sunday 6th May (2.30pm).
