Chelsea 2 (Lander 34, Buet 52) Liverpool 2 (K.Jones pen 15, Keryakoplis 21) Chelsea have taken over the leadership of the FA WSL but needed to come from two goals behind in order to claim a point against Liverpool. Liverpool settled the quicker of the two sides and went close to opening the scoring when a long range free kick from Chloe Jones was tipped over the bar by Carly Telford. However on the quarter hour, Liverpool's enterprising start was rewarded as they took the lead. After Katie Sherwood had been penalised for handball in the area, Kelly Jones stepped up to beat Telford from the resulting penalty. Before Chelsea could recover, they found themselves two goals down as Katie Brusell and Kelly Jones combined to set up Hannah Keryakoplis and the 18-year-old Welsh international drove home for first WSL goal. Keryakoplis went close to extending Liverpool's lead when her header was saved by Telford and Chelsea then went on the counter attack. Helen Lander was sent clear on goal and she deftly lobbed the oncoming Nicola Davies to bring her side back into the match. The second half was greeted with torrential rain and Chelsea came out determined to get themselves back on level terms. Davies was forced into making a good save from Suzanne Lappin but Chelsea soon equalised after Ashlee Hincks was brought down just outside the area. Danielle Buet stepped up to curl a delightful shot into the top corner of the net to complete her side's comeback. Chelsea now had the initiative and Davies made a good diving save from a Lappin header, whilst Buet almost added another spectacular goal but this time her 25-yard strike flashed just wide. As the game entered the latter stages, both sides had opportunities for take all three points. Substitute Helen Bleazard almost headed Chelsea in front but Nicky Twohig was on hand to clear off the line, whilst Davies made a good smothering save to deny Lander. Liverpool almost snatched victory late on as Keryakoplis made a good run before her shot was saved by Telford, meaning that both sides had to settle for a point from an entertaining game.
