UWIC are the new Welsh Premier Women's League Champions and will compete in Europe next season after they defeated Wrexham 3-0 in the Play-Off Final at Victoria Park, Llanidloes on Sunday.
The university side had twice finished as runners-up in the Southern Conference in each of the past two seasons but this time they went one better, finishing above reigning Champions Swansea City to book their place against Wrexham, who also reached the Final for the first time.
An exciting start saw UWIC's Adele Hooper create an early chance when she headed a perfectly timed cross from Hannah Billington just over the bar. Wrexham hit back a few minutes latter when a through ball from Alys Hinchcliffe was just shot wide by Lyndsey Roger.
In the middle of the park Wrexham's Kate Edwards and Steph Taylor broke up UWIC's attacks, but it was a storming run from Chloe Basset before finding the capable feet of Nadia Lawrence that put UWIC into the lead in the 28th minute.
However Dave Taylor's squad battled on and it was the international experience of Sophie Dando that denied an Emma Roden volley from finding its target.
The second half saw Wrexham come hard at UWIC, but some brave defending from Siobhan Humphreys and Kelly Highman frustrated the goalscoring feet of Lexi Musgrove.
UWIC hit back and in the 56th minute Sophie Scherschel shook off hard challenges from Jade Davies and Chloe Foster to see her shot go under the desperate hands of Rosie Lamphey.
Wrexham were then on the back foot and the pressure piled from the Cardiff side and a goalmouth scramble resulted in a 76th minute goal from Chloe Bassett to secure UWIC the premier crown and a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
