The decision by Sky Sports to switch to the men's League One Play-off Final instead of showing the penalty shootout in the F.A.Women's Cup Final on Saturday has drawn widespread criticism.
Top women players are featured in the Sunday Times Sports section criticising Sky's action in cutting off the women's final before it had completed and a large number of viewers are apparently enraged having watched the live broadcast from the game at Ashton Gate until it was taken off air.
Some of the reported tweets and comments include: "If the game is live you show the whole game", "Would this have happened for the men's FA Cup Final?", "No respect" and "It's an embarrassment to women's football".
Both teams were asked about the decision at the post-match press conference but preferred to talk only about the game and the occasion itself. No comment has been made either by the Football Association or Sky Sports.
Ironically the League One Play-Off Final between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United also went to penalties and Sky Sports showed edited highlights of the FA Women's Cup Final after the game, including the penalty shootout in full.
