Holders progress to Third Round

Holders progress to Third Round - 10 Jun 2012 - Women's Football NewsHenson Scottish Cup holders Glasgow City eased into the Third Round with a 13-0 win over Second Division side Murieston Utd in Livingston.
The reigning Champions showed little sign letting their grip on silverware slip with a convincing win. Four goals each for attacking duo Jane Ross and Emma Mitchell were added to by strikes from Lisa Evans, Danica Dalziel, Emma Fernon, Leanne Ross and Ciara Barnes.
Elsewhere, a number of the other Premier League sides also progressed with a degree of comfort. Hibernian put five past First Division outfit Paisley Saints with new signing Susan Fairlie netting a double and Caroline Weir, Lizzie Arnot and Laura Kennedy completing the scoring.
Hamilton Academicals thrashed lower League opposition Troon 10-1 and Forfar Farmington defeated Viewfield Rovers an impressive 11-0 with Julia Scott netting a hat-trick. Kelly Clark, Nicky Grant and Aimee Godfrey each weighed in with a brace and the tally was completed by Lucy Graham and Fay Hughes.
Celtic won 5-0 over Kilmarnock thanks to a Heather Richards double, Chloe Craig, Rhonda Jones and Emily Thomson goals. Spartans progressed with a win over Dee Ladies, although their Reserve side bow out of the competition, going out at the hands of Rangers who finished with a 5-1 victory.
Inverness City were almost at the hands of a shock defeat to First Division side Buchan Ladies, but after being level at 3-3 at full time, Inverness progressed comfortably in extra time with the match finishing 8-3 in the end, Natalie Bodium and Lorraine Cadden both getting hat-tricks for the Dingwall side.
Aberdeen were also forced into extra time after being 4-4 at the end of normal time against Kilwinning. However, a double from Cara Simpson and a goal from Nicky Wright in extra time ensured the Dons' safe path to the next round.
Premier League side Falkirk did however find their Cup run at an end though, losing 3-1 to Second Divison Hibernian 1875 in the most surprising result of the day.
