Steve Tilson joins C & K as coach
 Women's Football News 28 Jun 2012

Steve Tilson joins C & K as coach - 28 Jun 2012 - Women's Football NewsC & K Basildon have announced that former Southend United manager Steve Tilson, holder of the UEFA "A" and Pro Licence, has joined their coaching team.

Steve Tilson made 243 appearances for Southend United between 1989 to 1997, before returning as manager in 2003. In his seven years as manager, Tilson led Southend United to back to back promotions, taking the club into the Championship, and memorably beating a Manchester United side containing Rooney and Ronaldo in the Carling Cup in 2006.

Club secretary and first team manager Peter King expressed his delight at the appointment of Steve Tilson, saying: "We have always strived to provide our players with the very best facilities, coaching staff and to have a professional outlook, and having Steve on board will help us move the club forward. Steve has a wonderful record as both a player and a coach and is held in very high regard in this part of the country."

First team coach, Alan Richards, is determined to continue the upward momentum that has seen the club rise from the Essex County Division Two to second place in the Eastern Region Premier League in just four years. "The new season cannot come soon enough, as we are all looking forward to working with Steve," he said. "Pre-season training will be organised by Steve and he will be using the very latest training routines to ensure that the players are in as good a condition as possible at the start of the season."

Boosted by the signing of a one year sponsorship deal worth £20,000 with CKRe, C & K Basildon have improved their playing facilities by investing in a fixed perimeter barrier and by investing heavily in their pitch to ensure that the ladies have the best possible playing surface.

Peter King added: "We are looking to make C & K Basildon Ladies one of the top ladies football clubs in this part of the country, and in order to attract good quality players we need to provide the best possible facilities. However, I'm sure that once players see our set up, coaching team and facilities that we provide for our players, then they will be very impressed."

Pre-season training will begin on Thursday 28th June at 7.30pm at the Selex Club in Basildon, with further sessions, all being held at the Selex Club, arranged as follows:

Sunday 1st July at 11.30am
Tuesday 3rd July at 7.30pm
Thursday 5th July at 7.30pm
Sunday 8th July at 11.30am
Tuesday 10th July at 7.30pm
Thursday 12th July at 7.30pm

The first pre-season friendly will see the Ladies host Colchester United from the FA Women's Premier League on Sunday, 15th July.

C & K Basildon are seeking players for both their Eastern Region League and Essex County League teams for next season. For more information, contact Peter King on (07801) 975903 or e-mail peter.king@ckre.co.uk or visit the club website www.clubwebsite.co.uk/ckbasildonladiesfc/.
