Scottish girls team wins sponsored kit
 Women's Football News 30 Jun 2012
Scottish girls team wins sponsored kit - 30 Jun 2012 - Women's Football NewsA girls' football team in Perth, Scotland, has got a brand new sponsored kit after winning a nationwide competition organised by UK cloud computing company iomart Hosting.
Jeanfield Swift Girls wrote more than 100 begging letters to local businesses to try to get sponsorship for a much needed new kit for their Under-11s team, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Now, their dream of a new kit has come true after they entered and won Host Your Kit, a competition to win a brand new adidas team kit, run by iomart Hosting.
The UK cloud computing company launched Host Your Kit earlier this year to help youth football teams in England, Scotland and Wales that are struggling to find sponsorship in the current financial climate. Teams have to explain by e-mail or video why their team deserves a new kit. Jeanfield Swift Girls made a music video showing how their existing kit was too old and didn't fit properly and how a new kit would help them play better.
Donna Shaw, coach of Jeanfield Swift Girls, said: "We've been desperate to get a new kit to show the girls how proud we are of their commitment and their enthusiasm. We were really disappointed when we didn't hear back from local businesses but now, thanks to iomart Hosting, our girls can walk onto the pitch with their heads held high. Winning Host Your Kit has brought all the Jeanfield Swift parents and players together and made us feel really special."
Jane Robertson, marketing manager for iomart Hosting, said: "Many of the girls' teams that enter Host Your Kit have problems getting funding either because of the current financial climate or because businesses prefer to sponsor boys' teams. We hope this new kit spurs Jeanfield Swift Girls on to great success and encourages more girls' teams to enter Host Your Kit."
Scotland and Glasgow City defender Emma Fernon is an ambassador for Host Your Kit. She said: "I spend a lot of time promoting girls' football across Scotland and the Jeanfield Swift players are proof that football is a great way to give young girls confidence and inspire them to a healthy and active lifestyle. I hope their new sponsored kit gives them a fantastic boost for the season to come."
Jeanfield Swift is the first team to have won a new kit as part of iomart Hosting's Host Your Kit giveaway. In all, 30 youth football teams across Scotland, England and Wales will receive an iomart Hosting sponsored adidas football kit for 14 outfield players and one goalkeeper via the company's partnership with sports retailer Greaves Sports.
Sandy Greaves, Managing Director of Greaves Sports, said: "We're delighted to be a partner in this great football kit giveaway with iomart Hosting. We hope the Jeanfield Swift Girls are inspired to even greater success by wearing a top quality football strip."
To enter Host Your Kit just visit the website www.hostyourkit.com and register your team. The Jeanfield Swift Girls' video can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inz59bzKzy4. iomart Hosting is part of iomart Group plc which was voted Scottish plc of the Year 2012.
