England hopes ended by Spain
 Women's Football News 5 Jul 2012
England have crashed out of the UEFA Under-19 Championship Finals after being on the receiving end of an emphatic 4-0 defeat at the hands of Spain in their second group match in Turkey.
Mo Marley's side went into the game needing a victory to keep their semi final hopes alive after losing their opener to Sweden and were dealt a blow before kick off when Danielle Carter was ruled out through illness.
Despite a bright start, England found themselves on the back foot when Gema Gili's pass released Alexia Putellas and the Spanish captain duly put her side ahead. Things got even worse as Amanda Sampedro made it two from Ana Troyano's cross and Spain added a third on the stroke of half time, Troyano again being heavily involved as her centre picked out Virginia Torrecilla to score.
After the break, England pushed forward in an attempt to salvage something from the game but it was Spain who wrapped up a convincing win when Torrecilla curled home her second goal of the night.
Spain therefore go through to the semi finals with Sweden and they will battle it out on Sunday to decide who wins the group, whilst England have only pride to play for in their final match against Serbia.
