Hampton Football Club's newly formed Under-14 girls team made it three successes out of three when they travelled to Milton Keynes for the Water Eaton girls football tournament on Saturday 7th July.
The day started off with brief sunny spells and the team faced seven, eight minute, six-a-side games with a chance of more Silverware at stake.
The girls were slow to get started, but did show some early signs of class in their opening games, then the rain started and the pitches became unpredictable.
The rain seemed to bring the girls to life and they finally found their stride in game four when they cruised to a 4-0 win over Cosby to put them on course for a semi final place.
They faced a spirited Sawtry Colts side in the semi finals but the Hampton vision, passing and movement was just too much for Sawtry girls and they breezed through to the final with a 2-0 win.
The Hampton girls faced a very strong MK City side in the final and despite the Hampton girls having the slight upper hand, they could just not convert any of their chances and the game finished 0-0 forcing the dreaded penalties.
Hampton only needed four of their five penalties to get their hands on the trophy with MK City failing to convert two of their spot kicks.
By the end of the day it was wet and muddy, but that did not deter the smiles as the girls collected their medals and trophy.
Hampton squad: Amy Martin, Stephania Chaudhuri, Britt Ellis, Emily Smith, Millie Hopkisson, Bryony Fox, Megan Purnell, Lisa Coppins.
