Penzance were elected to the Cornwall Women's League at last Wednesday's AGM and will compete in Division Two with Mullion, Kilkhampton, St.Dominick, St.Breward and Camelford.
The league season will begin on Sunday wnd September. Due to the small number of teams, divisional cups will be played on a round robin basis and there may be an Invitation Cup as well as League Cup, Divisional Cup and County Cup for the Magpies to enter.
The new ladies team continued their summer campaign away at the St Agnes tournament on Sunday and again put in some great performances, getting wins against Bodmin Town and Mullion, as well as giving West Cornwall and Truro City good competitive games but what would have been a deserved and likely draw against Truro was snatched away after a couple of small mistakes. The team is continuing to learn and improve and the girls can look forward confidently to a great first season in the Cornwall League.
The club are planning a player registration evening at the Magpies from 6pm-8pm on Sunday 22nd July. All players wishing to play for the club in the coming season are required to register.
The next competitive action is now in the St.Breward tournament on August 5th, with training continuing at Mounts Bay School on Sundays before then, 11am - 12.30pm - all new players welcome.
